The Lantern of the Laughless Saint Playtest Status
The separate Steam Playtest is historical and the game is now sold in Early Access. Check NerveLabs Discord for any newly announced testing window.
The old Steam Playtest is not the main way to play now: the game entered paid Early Access on August 17, 2026. A separate Playtest app existed, and NerveLabs says it used Discord to organize public tests, but no new test window is confirmed here.
What happened to the Steam Playtest?
A separate Steam record exists for The Lantern of the Laughless Saint Playtest, app ID 4553690. Third-party Steam records date that app to April 2026. This establishes playtest history; it does not prove that access is currently open.
Can I still request access?
Do not assume the old “Request Access” flow still grants entry. The commercial Early Access build is now live under app ID 3849000. If NerveLabs opens another limited test, the safest sources are:
- the official Discord;
- the official Steam announcements;
- the developer’s linked social accounts.
Is there a demo?
No separate free demo is verified on the official store at the checked date. A playtest, a demo, and a paid Early Access release are different products and should not be treated as interchangeable.
Why the playtest still matters
The Steam Early Access statement says community feedback is intended to guide development. The developer also targets updates every one to two weeks during Early Access. Both points explain why future testing may be useful, but neither guarantees a specific new test.
