Laughless Saint Patch Archive: UPDATE 7 to UPDATE 14
The early Laughless Saint patch record: UPDATE 7 bearmen, UPDATE 8 Jinn tower, launch hotfixes, the UPDATE 11 XP curve rework and the UPDATE 13-14 menus.
This is the early half of the Laughless Saint patch record, kept separate so the main patch tracker stays readable. Everything here is the official announcement text as published, covering UPDATE 7 (August 22) through UPDATE 14 (September 2, 2026), plus the launch-week hotfixes.
Reading note: several values here were changed again later. The XP curve became linear in UPDATE 11, perk trees were rebuilt in UPDATE 15, co-op revival changed in UPDATE 16, and weapon/spell control was reworked in UPDATE 17 — so use this page for the history, and the main tracker for what is current.
UPDATE 11 (Aug 26) — the rework patch
The biggest gameplay changes of the week:
- XP curve rework: skill XP is no longer exponential — it is now a linear curve, making levels to 100 “some many hundreds of times easier.” Training costs doubled to compensate.
- New spell effects: Waterwalking, Feather and Burden — available at the crafter and on some items; spell tomes now distributed to vendors on new games.
- New weapon category: maces and morningstars added (more to come).
- Archery: now grants +1 HP, +2 Stamina and some arrow projectile speed per level.
- Item stacks to 99999 (inventory menu now scales correctly on all resolutions).
- Crafted potion value scales with alchemy skill; Gauntlets of Horny Fist grant extra unarmed damage; locks show level even if you over-skill them.
- Co-op: autosave no longer fails to store quest state.
- Many dice/event/spell-loop fixes plus rigging fixes.
UPDATE 13 (Sep 1) — UI, co-op options and bug fixes
A smaller follow-up patch focused on menus, co-op settings and quest/item stability.
Updated
- Skill and perk menu overhaul.
- Friendly fire option in co-op — the host’s choice determines whether friendly fire is enabled.
- Visual toggle for helmets and capes.
- Crosshair toggle — crosshair can be disabled (co-op clients get a partial disable for now).
- Equipment panel now shows up-to-date bonuses from equipped gear.
- Quests menu split into Active and Completed tabs instead of showing both lists at once.
- Resisted spell notification: fully resisted damage spells now display a notification.
- Crafted levitation no longer extravagantly expensive.
Fixed
- Older saves with previously crafted potions now show the correct names.
- Rumble settings persist across sessions.
- Collision and levers in the new fungal area fixed.
- Meris no longer dead at game start.
- Updated quests automatically re-check for items rather than requiring picking up new instances.
- Players can now back out of the character creator.
- Enemies continue attacking after summons die.
- Enemies have fallback attacking animations if the lookup fails.
- Oozes death animation no longer puts them in the ground.
- Summons can no longer be pickpocketed.
UPDATE 14 (Sep 2) — vendors, weapon wheel, co-op join
Current official build as of September 2. UPDATE 15 then superseded it as the live build.
Updated
- Vendors wipe crafted potions from their shop every day when inventory resets, so potion stock cannot balloon forever. Official notes say more work is still coming on this.
- Tap the weapon-wheel key to toggle your last equipped weapon.
- Perk menu tabs: owned perks, unowned perks, and remaining perk points.
- Equipment-bonus panels moved so longer item descriptions fit.
- Low-stamina tutorial now explains what the state does.
- Cut flora persists across saves and reloads.
- Additional voices re-cut.
Fixed
- Co-op guests no longer appear naked on join.
- Co-op death jitter removed.
- Illegal-to-take items should always show the steal prompt.
- NPCs no longer count as dead for a single tick on load.
- Moonface no longer swarmed by town guards.
- Well Taint state persists across saves.
- Crafted spells now have an inventory graphic.
- Frogs no longer drop three legs.
- Frigid broadsword does frost damage.
- Some collisions and blocked hallways fixed.
- Save menu focuses the right save on mouseover.
- A door that required a key can now be lockpicked.
- Nur-Hasmal Greaves can be obtained again (they occasionally could not).
UPDATE 8 (Aug 25) — the biggest content patch
- Bartolomaeus the Jinn moved into a massive tower befitting his status; the invisible merchant Demjen moved again and overlooks the crimson forest.
- 2-handed swords and spears have increased range; certain enemy hitboxes (blobs, snails, slugs) are bigger; ranged/caster enemies slow down when backpedalling.
- Co-op revive health cut from 40% to 20% — revives bring you back much weaker.
- Godsblood weapons now have flavor text (Kalator 1146DG is not a bugged placeholder).
- Arrows now reliably block ranged spellshots and can be used as a counter.
- Perks can no longer be gained by fortifying skills with magic/potions; damage-over-time no longer grants extra XP.
- Many quest-direction fixes (Bones Below, Charcoal Grilled, Jumping Off, Locked Out) and Blackstars no longer sink into the ground.
HOTFIX 9 & 10 (Aug 25)
- Fast travel to POIs added in accessibility options (HOTFIX 9; HOTFIX 10 confirms it works).
- Camera fixes (HOTFIX 9 fixed issues introduced in the patch; HOTFIX 10 further improved camera + fixed a performance regression).
- Double-left-click no longer creates custom waypoints — right-click only; Vultrilla Matron no longer hated by children; Carcas no longer loops infinitely in the amphitheater.
- The Bones Below quest directions clarified and logic updated.
UPDATE 7 (Aug 22) — Bearmen
- Added Bearmen (Uruhan) as a new faction/character type — the patch title’s focus.
Earlier hotfixes (Aug 18–19)
HOTFIX 1–5 covered launch-day issues (launch-day bugs, game-breaking blockers) plus performance tuning. The 1.0/EA release itself was August 17.
